What We’ve Loved About Decatur Watch Fest So Far
Decatur Dermatology’s Outpost at Decatur Watch Fest
When we signed on to support Decatur WatchFest, we knew it would be a unique opportunity to celebrate alongside our community.
What we didn’t fully appreciate was just how many meaningful conversations and connections would come from it.
After two event days, one thing is clear: Decatur knows how to come together.
The weather certainly hasn’t made things easy. Between the heat and humidity, everyone involved has been tested a little. Yet each day has been filled with energy, enthusiasm, and a spirit of community that has made it all worthwhile.
One of the most rewarding parts of the experience has been meeting so many people who stopped by our tent simply to introduce themselves. Many were curious about our new practice. Others wanted the opportunity to meet me personally and learn more about our plans for Decatur Dermatology & Aesthetics.
Those conversations have been incredibly meaningful.
As a Decatur resident, opening this practice was never just about providing dermatology services. It was about becoming part of the community I call home and creating a place where people feel comfortable seeking care for themselves and their families.
WatchFest has given us an opportunity to start building those relationships long before many people ever step through our doors.
We’ve also had the privilege of connecting with city leaders, first responders, and community partners who share a commitment to serving Decatur.
One conversation that especially excited us was with members of the Decatur Fire Department. We began discussing opportunities to provide free skin cancer screenings for firefighters and other first responders.
These discussions are still in their early stages, but they reflect something we care deeply about: finding ways to support the people who dedicate their careers to serving our community.
We hope this will be just the beginning. As our practice grows, we look forward to exploring additional initiatives that support teachers, public works employees, law enforcement personnel, and others who help make Decatur such a special place to live.
Of course, it hasn’t all been work.
We’ve enjoyed the music, the atmosphere, and the chance to experience WatchFest alongside friends, neighbors, and visitors. Like many attendees, we had a wonderful time enjoying the performances and soaking in the energy that has filled downtown Decatur throughout the event.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t recognize someone who has been instrumental throughout this experience.
Our Supervising Medical Assistant, Christen Willner, has been a cornerstone of my team for many years. As we’ve launched Decatur Dermatology & Aesthetics, she has brought her characteristic dedication, positivity, and professionalism to every challenge along the way.
Throughout WatchFest, Christen has spent countless hours helping visitors, answering questions, and representing our practice with warmth and enthusiasm. We are incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our team.
Most of all, we’re grateful.
We’re grateful to the City of Decatur for its support and hospitality. We’re grateful to the organizers and volunteers who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. And we’re grateful to every person who stopped by our tent to say hello.
We still have two WatchFest events ahead of us, including The War and Treaty concert on June 25 and the closing celebration on July 19 featuring Decatur’s own Indigo Girls.
If the first two events are any indication, we’re looking forward to many more conversations, connections, and opportunities to serve this remarkable community.
