Refreshing Your Skin: PRX-PLUS and PRX Derm Perfexion
Smoother Texture. Brighter Tone. Naturally You.
PRX treatments offer a needle-free approach to improving the appearance of your skin. At Decatur Dermatology & Aesthetics, we start with understanding your concerns, then choose a treatment plan that suits your skin and your goals.
Understanding PRX Treatments
PRX-PLUS and PRX Derm Perfexion are professional skin treatments applied and massaged into the skin using a specific technique. Both are designed to improve skin quality without the extensive visible peeling associated with some resurfacing treatments.
They use different formulations and address somewhat different concerns.
PRX Derm Perfexion helps improve the appearance of skin firmness, elasticity, and hydration. It may be a good option for dullness, fine lines, and early signs of aging.
PRX-PLUS places additional emphasis on uneven pigmentation and texture. It may be considered for mature or sun-damaged skin, more noticeable wrinkles, and enlarged pores.
Dr. Baender will assess your skin and explain which treatment is appropriate.
Typical Concerns Addressed With PRX
Depending on the formulation and your individual assessment, PRX treatments may help improve the appearance of:
Dull or tired-looking skin.
Uneven skin tone and dark spots.
Rough or uneven texture.
Fine lines and wrinkles.
Reduced skin firmness.
Enlarged pores.
Pigmentation changes can have different causes. We’ll assess yours before recommending treatment, especially if a spot is new or changing.
Results and Maintenance
Initial improvement: some people notice a brighter, refreshed appearance after the first treatment.
Treatment series: a series may be recommended to build on the initial improvement.
Ongoing care: your skincare routine, sun exposure, and individual response influence how results develop and last.
Appearance: the goal is healthier-looking skin with improvements that complement your natural features.
We’ll discuss the recommended number and spacing of visits, then reassess your progress along the way.
What to Expect During Your Treatment Visit
Your visit begins with a review of your concerns, skincare routine, medical history, and recent treatments. We’ll examine your skin and explain the proposed plan.
After cleansing, the selected PRX formulation is applied and firmly massaged into the treatment area. Excess product is then gently wiped away from the surface of the skin, and appropriate moisturizing care is applied.
You may feel tingling, warmth, or mild stinging. Let us know if anything feels uncomfortable so we can adjust or stop treatment.
Before you leave, we’ll explain your home-care routine, sun protection, and any temporary changes needed to your usual skincare products.
Cost and Insurance
PRX treatments for cosmetic concerns are generally not covered by insurance.
Your cost depends on the treatment selected, the areas treated, and the number of sessions recommended. We’ll review the proposed plan and cost before you decide to proceed. Payment is made in the office at the time of service.
Our Approach to Aesthetic Care
Aesthetic care should feel thoughtful, personal, and comfortable.
At Decatur Dermatology & Aesthetics, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Kelli Baender brings her understanding of skin health to every treatment plan. We take time to listen, explain your options, and help you decide what fits your goals.
Whether you’re ready for treatment or simply exploring, we’re happy to talk it through.
